Miss Sheryl’s & Miss Jen’s Jan. 7 & 10, 2022 Red Robin Preschool Newsletter

Dear Families,

Sheryl Katz, Red Robin Country Day School &

Miss Sheryl

Let me begin by wishing you all a happy and HEALTHY New Year!  I hope your Winter Holiday was warm and wonderful!

We were all so excited to be back together again.  This class is really like a little family.  I cannot repeat myself enough how caring and supportive they are of each other.

Since this is a review week it has given us the chance to not only go over and reinforce our letters, numbers, sign language and more, it has given us the opportunity to talk about the holiday break, presents, celebrations and more.

Our “Let’s Find Out” was all about New Year’s Resolutions – A.K.A. – “Goals for the New Year”.  Your children love their weekly “newspaper” and it lends itself to great conversations and the insights your children have.  Your children never cease to amaze me-I thought the last page was going to be too hard for them – but “lo and behold” your children were up to the challenge as a group!  They recognized the days of the week!  Incredible!  They even answered the “Bonus Question!”

Check it out!  Try it with them.  I put all their answers on my large teacher’s version.  So you can do it with them on their own newspaper.  We talked about our goals for the New Year and then created a project to go with it!

The children loved the calendar when they went to meeting on Monday – a new month and a new year!!!  We had talked about when the clock strikes 12 midnight (Cinderella time) everyone shouts “Happy New Year!”  It sounds like a lot of you celebrated with you children!

We worked on our Review Book all week and we’re sending it home if you’d like to finish it.  Your children are extremely proud of themselves – and they should be!!!

We had one King this week, Michael!!!  King Michael had Miss Sheryl read King Michael’s “Royal Proclamation”.  It declared that he would be a fair King.  He would give all his subjects cupcakes and share his favorite book The Gruffalo.  It’s a Garcia family favorite!   Rocco will be King on Monday!  He has declared pizza for all!!!

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of our “Flat Stanley” projects to start coming in this week.  I’m sure by now you have lots of pictures.  You can be as creative as you want.  The photos can go on a poster with a caption underneath each picture.  You can create a book with photos and captions.  We’re going to have each child present their “Flat _______” project to the class and then display it in our classroom.  We will take lots of pictures, too! Don’t forget to send your child’s “Flat Person” in with the display.  Thank you so much for your help with project.  I hope your “Flat ____” was a wonderful addition to the family, dinners, bedtime, movies, games, celebrations and traditions.

With the prediction of some snow this week we took out our watercolors (which they love and are so good at using) and created works of art that we framed in a snow covered window!  They will remain in our classroom for awhile.

Next week we will move onto the letter “Ll”.  You will find the homework packet in your child’s folder.

I am so glad to have your children back.  I would like to end this newsletter by thanking each and every one of you for taking your children for their COVID tests before coming back to school.

I know this process is becoming more and more difficult and a hardship on our little ones.  Please know we appreciate effort.  We are the “Red Robin Family”.  We are all working together to try and keep our children, families and staff safe.  Thank you again.

Have a weekend filled with

LOTS of LOVE

and

LAUGHTER

XOXO

Miss Sheryl and Miss Jen

CHOOSE RED ROBIN WITH CONFIDENCE

Of course, parents should trust their own experience and instincts when choosing a school or camp. However, the critical decision about with whom to entrust your child should also be based on the program’s license, accreditations, and commitment to safety. Red Robin holds many such distinctions. They are a source of pride for us and can be a source of confidence for you.

Red Robin elects to maintain its accreditation with the American Camp Association (ACA).  This commitment requires Red Robin to adhere to many stringent standards and inspections, which help parents select camps that meet industry-accepted and government-recognized regulations.

In addition, our school is licensed by New York State.

We are also chartered by the New York State Education Department-Board of Regents.

We are permitted to operate by the Nassau County Health Department.

Red Robin is a peanut and tree nut free facility, one of many safeguards implemented to protect our students and campers.
