Miss Lori’s Thanksgiving Newsletter for 11-19-20
We continued to learn about Thanksgiving this week. Our class hung up a huge class turkey and all of their creative feathers are hanging up as well. The children love to stop and observe each of the different feathers! The boys and girls have also made rainsticks, Thanksgiving placemats and headdresses. Everyone is so excited for our feast next week! Thank you in advance to all of our families for being so generous with your donations for our feast. *** We could still use sliced turkey for the feast. Anyone who has not signed up or can help please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.
Each of the children made either a “Harry Hippo” puppet or a “Horse” for their Alphabet Book. Our class has so much fun finding “Hh” pictures that are hiding in a humongous alphabet book that I have. Some things they found are a hedgehog, hammer, hen, horse and a hose to name a few! The homework that is coming to school has been terrific, and I am so happy to see the progress all of children are making both socially and academically! Next week will be a review week so we will not move on to the letter “Ii” until we get back to school on Monday, November 30th from our Thanksgiving break.
**Reminder: School will be closed for Thanksgiving, next Thursday, November 26th and next Friday, November 27th. We will see everyone with “bells on”, Monday, November 30th.
I am thankful for the Parent-Teacher conferences I have had with each family. Although times are not “normal”, we still managed to have in depth conferences, both virtually and on the phone. I am always available should you ever have a question or concern.
I wish everyone a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving filled with lots of good food, love and surrounded by your family. Since everything looks a little bit different this year I thought I could add some joy, merriment and entertainment to your holiday table this year. Attached to this newsletter you will find songs that we are learning as well as songs you might like to sing around the holiday table for the fun of it! You might start a new tradition of a Thanksgiving sing-along! If you have Apple Music or some other musical app you can find the music to all these songs on the following CD: “Thanksgiving Songs for Preschool and Kindergarten”, by the Kidboomers. “Who’s that Walking Down the Street?” – Is not on there, but it’s a cute poem to act out-the children love it! “Hello Mr. Turkey” is on “Holiday Piggyback Songs” by A Kimbo Children’s Music. ENJOY!!! We expect to see lots of family videos sent our way after the holiday.
