Miss Lori’s Newsletter for January 21, 2021
Dear Families,
This week was a very exciting week in our class! On Wednesday, our class was able to watch the Inauguration of Joe Biden on our smart board. Each of the boys and girls were glued to the screen as they learned about the U.S. Capitol as how a person becomes President and Vice President. They saw the American flags blowing, we pointed out three former Presidents, and we stood and honored Lady Gaga as she sang the National Anthem. Our class said the Pledge of Allegiance with everyone on the screen. We all watched Kamala Harris get sworn in and spoke that she is the first woman to be Vice President and the first person with black skin to become Vice President! Our class then watched Joe Biden get sworn in and we all clapped when he became our 46th President!!! One of the children in the class said “This is really great! I “kinda” like the news now!” We were all so lucky to watch this exciting event taking place in our history!
The letter of the week was “Nn”. Our friends “Nate” and “Niam’s” pictures are up on the letter board. We spoke about many words that start with the letter of the week such as; news, nails, nose, nothing and nine among many other words. We also read the book No David, by David Shannon and Noisy Nora, by Rosemary Wells. Some of the children made a “Nurse” puppet and some children made “Newt” for their Alphabet Book.
Our class is working on our Very Important Information book. They are writing their first and last name, they will learn their phone number and address! We have spoken about how important it is to always stay with their Mom, Dad or trusted grown up if they go someplace. However they also know that knowing this basic information is very important.
We have begun speaking about how animals survive in the cold winter months. We will talk about hibernation and migration. Each of your children will be making a book about animals in the winter. We will also be reading many books about how animals cope in the winter.
Next week we will move on to the letter “Oo”. Please make sure to have your child write their name on the front of the paper with the pictures. Please also have your child write the word next to the picture if possible. Thank you!
Have a nice and nifty weekend!!!
Warmly,
Miss Lori and Miss Kristine
