Miss Lori’s Newsletter for 9-24-20
Dear Families,
We had very busy week learning about the letter “Aa”. We discussed the sound the letter makes and thought of many words that begin with the letter “Aa”. Thank you to everyone for sending in so many terrific “Aa” pictures! Each week we will hang them on our letter board and go over all the pictures. Please make sure to send a picture that your child recognizes and can speak about. This week your children made “Al the Alligator” puppet and some children made an alligator for their Alphabet Book.
Our class tasted 3 different types of apples and we graphed each child’s favorite taste and color. After completing the chart, we discovered by counting that red apples were our class favorite. As we cut open each apple, the children saw that a star is inside of every apple with seeds inside of the star. After this, we will slice and peel 10 apples, add water sugar and cinnamon to make applesauce. The children will “hypothesize” what will happen to the chunks of apples after they are blended with all of the applesauce ingredients. Our class will observe solids turning into liquids! We also read a book about apples. The girls and boys learned how apples grow and all about the job of a farmer. They also learned what an apple orchard is. Your children are very excited to go apple picking! Apples will be painted for some fun apple painting.
We discussed that seasons change and that summer is now over. We are observing the trees as we watch for changes in leaf color. Every day we look at the clothing we are wearing as we talk about the cool Fall mornings and the warmer Fall afternoons. We will be marble painting some Fall leaves as well as fingerpainting leaves. Your children are so proud as we display their artwork.
We are very proud of your children as well for all of their hard work they are exhibiting, both in school and at home. I am happy to see their homework coming in each day.
***A few reminders about the homework- 1) Please make sure to use pencil, unless directions specify to “color”Lori 2) Please make sure when writing their name, as well as any words, to use an uppercase letter for the first letter of their name and lowercase letters for the remaining letters.
Next week we will be starting the letter “Bb”. We would like to wish everyone a happy and fun Fall weekend.
Warmly,
Miss Lori and Miss Kristine
