Miss Lori’s Newsletter for 12-3-20
Dear Families,
It was nice to welcome back all of your children after the Thanksgiving holiday. Each of the boys and girls took turns going around the room and shared something special about their Thanksgiving feast. We hope you enjoyed their Thanksgiving decorations that they brought home! It is very hard to believe we are finished with November and we have begun December! The excitement is in the air here at Red Robin for the season to become winter and for some holidays to be celebrated this month! During lesson time we have begun talking about Christmas, Hanukkah and Eid. We are happy to learn about and celebrate any and all holidays! Part of our discussion includes the fact that we have many different holidays amongst our families, and that each holiday is equally special! All of your children are hard at work creating a very special surprise for Mom and Dad! Shhh – you will find out soon what they have made for you! If anyone has a book about your special holiday, please feel free to send it in and I will be happy to read it during lesson time! Our life sized turkey has come down and in its place is a beautiful Christmas tree which all of the children helped paint. So far we have dreidels for garland as well as candy canes on our tree. Our class is so proud of their artwork. They have worked as a team as well as individually!
During lesson time the letter “Ii” was introduced. The boys and girls have learned that the letter “Ii” is a vowel and it makes two sounds. It says “Ii” like in the word “ice cream” and “Ii” like in the word “igloo”.
Some children made an “iguana” for their Alphabet Book and some children made an “Izzy Ice Cream” puppet. We have been going over all of the incredible pictures the children bring in for homework during lesson time!
Although it is December, we are still going outside to the playground. Now that the weather is getting colder please make sure to send in a warm coat, hat and gloves or mittens on chilly days. We continue to go outside as often as weather permits. Please make sure everything is labeled. Thank you so much!
Wishing everyone a joyous holiday season to come!
Enjoy your weekend.
Warmly,
Miss Lori and Miss Kristine
