Miss Lori & Miss Kristine’s March 24, 2023 Red Robin Pre-K Newsletter

Long Island Nursery Pre-K Teacher Lori

Dear Pre-K Families,

This week we continued with our Pictionary Book. We learned about the letter “Vv” and the sound that it makes. Everyone made “violets” and wrote the upper and lowercase “Vv”.

We have been working in great detail on our human bodies. Just wait until you see what the children have created!  This week all of the children cut out pictures of different foods that they like to eat and they glued them right next to their stomach that they put on their body.  Everyone also took turns writing the word “stomach”.  The last thing that the boys and girls will add to their body will be their bones.  All of the children think it is very funny to know that without bones we would all be flat on the floor like a pancake, without any shape!!!  Our class knows that an x-ray machine is a special type of machine that takes pictures only of bones.  In fact, it was perfect timing that Miss Lori fell and broke a bone in her ankle and had to utilize x-ray machines!  This became a teachable moment, for without an x-ray machine I would not know about my break and I would not be able to fix it.!!!  We have been reading a whole library worth of books that I have brought in to school.  All of the children are truly fascinated each and every day to learn more and more about their body. They can’t wait to bring their body home and share it with you.

This week we did some practice work as a class, just like it will be done in kindergarten. All of the children had to listen and follow verbal directions in order to complete their worksheet. This was done with shapes and there was also a math worksheet. I am happy to report (but not at all surprised) that they did a terrific job!!!

Each day we continue to practice our graduation songs. This is sure to be a big hit with the families!  You will go from smiling and laughing to crying all within that half an hour! I am already getting sad just thinking about that day!  All of your children are just so precious to me.

Next week we will begin speaking about the holiday of Easter and Passover. We will also move on to the letter “W”.

Wishing all of our wonderful families a terrific weekend!  Thank you to everyone for all of your well wishes, I sincerely appreciate them all!

Warmly,

Miss Lori and Miss Kristine
