Miss Lori & Miss Kristine’s February 3, 2022 Red Robin Preschool Newsletter

Long Island Nursery Pre-K Teacher Lori

This week we learned about the letter “Qq”. We learned that the letter “Qq” is never without its best friend “U”!  Every word that we thought of that starts with the letter “Qq” has the letter “U” next to it.  The children can see that the letter “U” is always next to the letter “Qu” when they look at all of the pictures and words up on our letter board.  All of the boys and girls made a “Queen” for their Pictionary book.

During lesson time we have begun learning about “Reptiles”. All of the children are very excited to explore this unit. So far, we have learned about the “chameleon” and the “crocodile”.  Each one of your children is creating a beautiful “Reptile” book. Each day we are all learning many new facts about each reptile.  We have read many books about reptiles already.  One of them is Reptiles by Melissa Stewart.  Another book is Miles and Miles of Reptiles, a Cat in the Hat Learning Book. We learned about chameleons by reading Chameleon,Chameleon by Joy Cowley and the Mixed Up Chameleon by Eric Carle so far. We have also read Lyle, Lyle Crocodile by Bernard Waber and The Selfish Crocodile by Faustin Charles. All of the boys and girls love listening to the books about each reptile and they enjoy learning new facts each day!

It is hard to believe it is already the month of February!  We are almost at the 100th day of school!!!  We have been counting since the very first day of school!  Our class is very excited to celebrate the one hundredth day.  Stay tuned for more information!

This week we had a special day when Miss Sheryl made us homemade hot chocolate with marshmallows!  All of our friends loved having this delicious treat in class- it was just perfect for a cold “snow flurry” type of day!!!  National Hot Chocolate Day was a huge success!

February has a very special holiday- your children are very excited about Valentine’s Day.  We will have a “LOVE PARTY” in school and celebrate Valentine’s Day as well. More information to follow!  Ground Hog day has come and gone – we took a class vote and most of the children thought that the groundhog would see his shadow!  Our class is still hoping for a big snowstorm so they would love six more weeks of winter!!!

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend. Try and stay warm!!!
Next week we will move onto the letter “Rr”. We will continue with our” Reptile “unit as well.

                                      Warmly,
                       Miss Lori and Miss Kristine

P.S. Don’t forget to send in pictures for the letter “Rr”.

CHOOSE RED ROBIN WITH CONFIDENCE

Of course, parents should trust their own experience and instincts when choosing a school or camp. However, the critical decision about with whom to entrust your child should also be based on the program’s license, accreditations, and commitment to safety. Red Robin holds many such distinctions. They are a source of pride for us and can be a source of confidence for you.

Red Robin elects to maintain its accreditation with the American Camp Association (ACA).  This commitment requires Red Robin to adhere to many stringent standards and inspections, which help parents select camps that meet industry-accepted and government-recognized regulations.

In addition, our school is licensed by New York State.

We are also chartered by the New York State Education Department-Board of Regents.

We are permitted to operate by the Nassau County Health Department.

Red Robin is a peanut and tree nut free facility, one of many safeguards implemented to protect our students and campers.
