Miss Lori & Miss Kristine’s February 10, 2022 Red Robin Pre-K Newsletter

Long Island Nursery Pre-K Teacher Lori

This week we continued our “Reptile” unit.  The children had so much fun learning about the different reptiles, their habitat, how they live and how they eat. Their Reptile Book has come home and I hope you enjoyed looking through the book with your child. Fun facts are on the back of each page. Most of the class knows a lot of these facts!  Each day we read several books about the reptile of the day. The books showed close up and real pictures of each reptile, which was very fascinating to see as well as learn about!  The boys and girls also wrote the reptile word on each page. I am so proud of all of them- their handwriting is just beautiful!!!

The letter of the week was the letter “Rr”. All of the children made a “Robot” for their Pictionary Book. We have numerous pictures up on our letter board which we go over every day. We play a game during lesson time each week called “Clue”. I give them a clue about a word that begins with the letter of the week and they try to guess the word with one clue!  This is always a fun activity!  We also read Rainbow Fish and Rainbow Fish to the Rescue by Marcus Pfister.

In honor of this coming Sunday’s “Super Bowl Game” all of our children were “READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL” on Friday!  We played all kinds of activities with Miss Sheryl and then had our own “tailgating party” with chips and salsa!   Hope you have a “Super Sunday”.

Next week will be a review week. I will send home a homework packet but we will not focus on a specific letter. We will move onto the letter “S” after the vacation.  On Tuesday, Valentine’s Day, please send your child to school wearing something red.  February 14th is “National Red Day”.  The month of February is also “National Heart” month.  We will have a “Love Party”!!!  Feel free to send in a snack for the entire class that is peanut and tree nut free.  Also, if you would like your child to write out Valentine’s Day cards to give out to all their Pre-K friends, please feel free to do so.  We will take time during the day to sit and deliver our cards to everyone!  (Please make sure no cards with lollipops.  Thank you so much!)

Tuesday, February 14 is also our “One Hundredth Day” of school!!!  We have 97 boys and girls hanging up all around our room which we have been counting since the first day of school! Each day at lesson time children have to guess whether it will be a girl or a boy hanging up and we guess which number will be on that girl or a boy. This is always so much fun to do.  All of your children are now counting all the way up to 97!  Since Tuesday, February 14th we are celebrating Valentine’s Day, we will celebrate the “One Hundredth Day” of school on Friday, February 17th with a party. I will be bringing in everything to make an “Ice Cream Sundae Party” for the children. This is also our last day of school before the winter vacation begins. Next week is sure to be a very exciting week here at Red Robin!!!

Wishing all of our families a wonderful weekend!

 Warmly,

 Miss Lori and Miss Kristine

CHOOSE RED ROBIN WITH CONFIDENCE

Of course, parents should trust their own experience and instincts when choosing a school or camp. They are a source of pride for us and can be a source of confidence for you.

In addition, our school is licensed by New York State.

We are also chartered by the New York State Education Department-Board of Regents.

We are permitted to operate by the Nassau County Health Department.

Red Robin is a peanut and tree nut free facility, one of many safeguards implemented to protect our students and campers.
