Miss Lori & Miss Kristine’s December 16, 2022 Red Robin Preschool Newsletter

Long Island Nursery Pre-K Teacher Lori

Dear Pre-K Families,

We have had a very busy week here at Red Robin!  All of the children are so excited for the start of the holiday season!  Each day as they come upstairs, the boys and girls are immediately on the lookout for Moshe, Eddie and See See!!! The three of them always seem to be together – whether they’re hanging upside down, sitting in a window, sitting on a fire extinguisher or hanging from some of the projects your children have made!!!  This week I actually called Santa on my phone and all of the boys and girls were speechless that I have his phone number!  We heard Santa reminding all of the boys and girls to be nice just before we heard his jolly ho- ho- ho’s!!! (I have the number if you’d like!)  Everyone will be bringing home a dreidel that the children marble painted.  A beautiful self lighting menorah will also be coming home!  You can actually slide the lever out in order to “light” a candle each night!  All of the children will bring home a beautiful Christmas tree made out of paper strips that they had to cut and make into loops to create a 3-D Christmas tree!  We are also sewing stockings which will have real candy canes inside.
The most exciting activity that your children are all participating in is making your surprise holiday gift!! (Just a note –  if you have a pet in your home, please DO NOT place your gift where a pet can access it.)  Some children have brought their gift home because Sunday is the start of Hanukkah.  All of the other boys and girls will be bringing home their gift next week.  Speaking of next week, on Friday, December 23rd we will have a holiday party in school.  If you would like, you may send in a snack for the entire class. Please remember that the item must be a store-bought peanut and tree nut free snack. Friday, December 23rd will be our last day of school until Tuesday, January 3, 2023!

This week we worked on the letter” Ll “We know that” Luke“and “Lori” both begin with the letter “Ll”.  Our class made “lollipops” for their Pictionary Book. We also spoke about all of the pictures that are up on our letter board. We look forward to eating latkes next week made by Miss Sheryl!  We continue to read many books each day in school. A class favorite was The Runaway Latke by Leslie Kimmelman and How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss!
On Tuesday everyone went to music with Miss Sheryl. The boys and girls enjoyed using musical instruments to go along with holiday songs. They also enjoyed the flannel board songs that Miss Sheryl taught to everyone!  Music encompasses singing and movement so this is a really nice special for the class to attend each week!

Next week we will not move on to the letter M as we are all so busy here at school putting the finishing touches on everything we are making for the holiday.  We will move onto the letter “Mm” when we return to school on January 3. For homework next week I will send home a review packet.

Wishing all of our families who celebrate, a very Happy Hanukkah!

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

 Warmly,
Miss Lori and Miss Kristine

CHOOSE RED ROBIN WITH CONFIDENCE

Of course, parents should trust their own experience and instincts when choosing a school or camp. However, the critical decision about with whom to entrust your child should also be based on the program’s license, accreditations, and commitment to safety. Red Robin holds many such distinctions. They are a source of pride for us and can be a source of confidence for you.

Red Robin elects to maintain its accreditation with the American Camp Association (ACA).  This commitment requires Red Robin to adhere to many stringent standards and inspections, which help parents select camps that meet industry-accepted and government-recognized regulations.

In addition, our school is licensed by New York State.

We are also chartered by the New York State Education Department-Board of Regents.

We are permitted to operate by the Nassau County Health Department.

Red Robin is a peanut and tree nut free facility, one of many safeguards implemented to protect our students and campers.
