Dear Pre-K Families,

It has been wonderful conferencing with many of our families!  Please sign up if you have not already done so.   I hope you are all very proud of your child as you watch them continue to grow and blossom this year!

Our class is having so much fun putting the finishing touches on their Thanksgiving projects.  The children have made a beautiful placemat, a turkey centerpiece and a decorative wreath.  When we had our Fall walk, everyone collected colorful leaves to use for their own wreath.  The turkey centerpiece tells you what your child is thankful for.  Thank you for sending in canned goods with your children.  The boys and girls are aware that many people don’t have food to eat so they are very happy to be able to donate food.  Our feast is next Wednesday, November 23rd.  Please send in the food for our feast with your child that morning.  We are still in need of 1) 1 pound of Turkey 2) tater tots 3) chocolate kisses 4) 1 pound of American cheese.  If anyone can please donate, please let me know.  We have plenty of pretzels and corn already.  Your children are excited to dress up in their vests they are making and have a feast together.  Feel free to send lunch with your child next Wednesday if you don’t think they will eat enough at our feast.

This week we learned about the letter “Ii”.  We know that it is a vowel, which means it makes two sounds.  The “long I” as in “Isla” and “ice cream” and the short “I” as in “igloo” and “iguana”.  Everyone painted this page in their vowel book that is ongoing throughout the year.  Th*+echildren painted an “igloo” and an “ice cream” cone and wrote the upper and lower case “Ii” as well as the words “igloo” and “ice cream”.  We listened to the story I Want to Sleep in Your Bed by Harnet Ziefert as well as I Am Not Scared by Anna Kang.  Our letter board is fjk0,-l;[\illed with many pictures!  We all know our friend “Isla”][pkjbegins with the letter “Ii” and she is on our letter board.  =-098/   All of the c*hildren had “Music with Miss Sheryl” this week.  This is something all of the boys and girls really enjoy!  They sing, dance and have all type of movement exercise.  In addition, the children had so much fun pretending to be turkeys flying away during an interactive flannel board Thanksgiving story with Miss Sheryl!  They sang lots of Thanksgiving songs with Miss Sheryl.  You can sing along with your child to the songs if you like!  The words were sent home with last week’s newsletter.  Have fun with this!

I am sending home a review packet next Monday for homework.  We will not move on to the letter “Jj” until we come back to school on\Monday, November 28th.  The review packet is for you and your child to do at your leisure.

I am personally “thankful” for the Parent-Teacher conferences I have had with each family.  I am most “thankful” for your trust in me as I love your children and help to mold and teach their little minds!  I wish everyone a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving filled with lots of good food, love and surrounded by your family.  Lastly, thank you for making our feast a tasteful and memorable event.

Of course, parents should trust their own experience and instincts when choosing a school or camp. However, the critical decision about with whom to entrust your child should also be based on the program’s license, accreditations, and commitment to safety. Red Robin holds many such distinctions. They are a source of pride for us and can be a source of confidence for you.

Red Robin elects to maintain its accreditation with the American Camp Association (ACA).  This commitment requires Red Robin to adhere to many stringent standards and inspections, which help parents select camps that meet industry-accepted and government-recognized regulations.

In addition, our school is licensed by New York State.

We are also chartered by the New York State Education Department-Board of Regents.

We are permitted to operate by the Nassau County Health Department.

Red Robin is a peanut and tree nut free facility, one of many safeguards implemented to protect our students and campers.
