Miss Lori & Miss Kristine’s October 14, 2022 Red Robin Preschool Newsletter
Dear Pre-K Families,
We hope everyone had a delightfully long holiday weekend. Were your children able to tell you anything about Christopher Columbus? We had a busy short week!
This week we spoke all about the letter “Dd”. All of your children made a “Duck” and wrote the upper and lower case “Dd”. We spoke about all of the “Dd” pictures hanging up on our letter board. We also took turns thinking of “Dd” words as I wrote down each word for the children to see. We read the book Danny and the Dinosaur, by Syd Hoff. Each child made their very own “Dinosaur”!!! All of the boys and girls also colored “Danny” and he is sitting on the dinosaur (Just like the book!) which you will see when this 3-D dinosaur comes home! Some of the other dinosaur books we read are How Do Dinosaurs Go to School by Jane Yolen and How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night, by Jane Yolen.
During lesson time we have been enjoying listening to spooky Halloween stories. A class favorite is The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams. We continue to count up to 100 every day. It is hard to believe we are already up to day number 22!
On the playground your children get so excited watching the changing leaves! The boys and girls love to walk around and search for the perfect Fall leaf to share with us.
As we get further into Fall we will take a nature walk and create a Fall tree with the items everyone finds. We read a beautiful Fall story entitled Leaf Man by Lois Ehert.
Our class is very excited for Halloween! We will celebrate Halloween by having a party, going on a spooky Halloween Scavenger Hunt for “Trick or Treat”. We will all wear our costumes to school and have a “School Parade”.
Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to Halloween.
Next week we will work on the letter “Ee”.
Please send in your pictures for our letter board that start with the letter “Ee”.
Have an exciting weekend!
Warmly,
Miss Lori and Miss Kristine
