Miss Lori’s Hanukkah & Christmas Newsletter for 12-18-20
Dear Families,
We had a taste of winter this week and I’m sure all of the children enjoyed their snow day! The boys and girls were so excited to tell us about their snowmen, snowballs, snow angels, as well as just playing in the snow!!!
Although our week was short, it was filled with a lot of holiday festivities! Each day the children come barreling up the stairs, so excited to look for “Snowflake” our elf, and “Mosche”. The two of them always seem to wind up together, we have even found Snowflake sitting on Mosche’s lap!!! Miss Sheryl has been entertaining our class as well. One day she came in as “Bubbe”, wearing an apron and carrying a tray of delicious potato latkes! “Bubbe” sang a song about latkes (maybe one day Miss Sheryl will sing it for you!) The entire class thoroughly enjoyed Miss Sheryl’s entertainment and devoured the potato latkes! Some of the children were a bit reluctant to try the latkes until we explained to them that latkes are just like tater tots – after that, many of the children had three and four helpings! Applesauce was a tasty accompaniment to these treats!
For the letter “Kk”, some children made a “Kooky Kookaburra” puppet and some children made a “Koala Bear” for their Alphabet Book. Next week will be a review week, as it is a very short week. When we return back to school, we will move on to the letter “Ll”. Please continue to encourage your children to write their name and the word next to the picture.
On Wednesday, December 23rd our class will have a “Holiday Party”. Please feel free to send in a store bought, peanut/tree nut free snack. (Please check the ingredients to make sure the item was made in a nut free facility.) Your children are so excited for you to open holiday gifts they made for you! They worked very hard on the gift box as well as what is inside the box!!! We hope you all enjoy these handmade treats! The children have been singing their hearts out to seasonal songs with Miss Sheryl the last few weeks. We are hoping to video some of their favorites. So stay “tuned”. Some of the songs are; “Five Candy Canes”, “Jingle Bell Opposites”, “Santa is His Name-O”, The Lights on the Christmas Tree”, “Reindeer Pokey”, “Christmas Freeze”, “The Dreidel Song”, The Latke Song” (ask them to show you “OyVey!) and “Hanukkah is Here”. You can find most of these songs (Because we know you want to sing them and add them to your Holiday Caroling!) on whatever musical app you use – “Kids Songs for Christmas” by the Kiboomers. “Hanukkah is Here” and “The Dreidel Song” can also be found by The Kiboomers. “The Latke Song” is a Miss Sheryl original…you’ll have to learn it from your children. Have fun!!!
Miss Kristine and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a very safe, happy and healthy New Year. From our families to yours may 2021 be a year that’s filled with hope, love, health and positivity. We hope you enjoy having your children home during the holiday season and create some wonderful memories together.
Looking forward to seeing all of your precious children on Monday, January 4th, 2021.
Reminder – School will be closed from Thursday, December 24th – Sunday, January 3rd.
Warmly,
Miss Lori and Miss Kristine
