Miss Lori’s 4/8/22 Red Robin Preschool Newsletter

Long Island Nursery Pre-K Teacher Lori

Dear Nursery Families,

We hope everyone enjoyed seeing your child’s “Solar System” that they worked so hard on! I am happy to hear that many of your children were able to tell their families about the planets and the sun!  Many of your children were even able to explain why Pluto is no longer considered a planet in the solar system!

This week during lesson time we spoke about the letter “Vv”.  Our letter board is filled with pictures of Venus, vultures, volcanoes and vegetables!  Everyone made a “Vulture” for their Alphabet Book.  We colored a huge uppercase violet “V” for our letter board.  We read a book called The Very Windy Day by Elizabeth McDonald.  We listened to a story called The Vegetables We Eat by Gail Gibbons.  It seems all the children love eating vegetables!  The class favorite is a toss up between cucumbers and peppers!

April is truly living up to the saying “April Showers Bring May Flowers!”  The boys and girls made beautiful umbrellas.  We took shaving cream, covered a baking pan with it and put drops of different colors of food coloring.  We then placed a white umbrella into the shaving cream and food coloring mixture.  We rubbed the umbrella.  When they lifted the umbrella up each of the children were so delighted by what they saw!  The umbrellas really are magnificent!  The boys and girls wrote their name beautifully, some with help, some without help.  Everyone just loves seeing their umbrellas hanging up!

We have also begun painting Easter baskets.  We gave the children different color pastel paint to choose from.  We read a book called The Eggcellent Egg Hunt by Alison Mitchell.  We also listened to Pete the Cat Big Easter Adventure a read aloud book and Llama Llama Easter Egg.

Next week we will make beautiful tie dye Easter eggs in school and we will go on an “Easter Egg Hunt”.  The children also began learning about Passover.  I read the story What is Passover? By Hamet Ziefert and The Matzah Man by Naomi Howland.  Everyone will make a seder plate for Passover as well.

Next Wednesday, April 13th we will have our “Spring Party” before we begin our “Spring Break” on April 14th.  Feel free to send in a store bought peanut and tree nut treat for our class.

Next week will be a review week of all the letters from A-V!  On April 25th, the first day we get back from Spring Break, we will move on to the letter “Ww”.  Please remember to send back your conference signup sheets if you haven’t done so already.  Conferences begin on Monday, April 25th through Friday, April 29th which is the week we come back to school from vacation.

Wishing everyone who celebrates a Happy Easter and a Happy Passover!  Enjoy this time with your families!  Reminder-school is closed Thursday April 14th through Friday, April 22nd.  Our first day back is Monday, April 25th.

Love,

Miss Lori

CHOOSE RED ROBIN WITH CONFIDENCE

Of course, parents should trust their own experience and instincts when choosing a school or camp. However, the critical decision about with whom to entrust your child should also be based on the program’s license, accreditations, and commitment to safety. Red Robin holds many such distinctions. They are a source of pride for us and can be a source of confidence for you.

Red Robin elects to maintain its accreditation with the American Camp Association (ACA).  This commitment requires Red Robin to adhere to many stringent standards and inspections, which help parents select camps that meet industry-accepted and government-recognized regulations.

In addition, our school is licensed by New York State.

We are also chartered by the New York State Education Department-Board of Regents.

We are permitted to operate by the Nassau County Health Department.

Red Robin is a peanut and tree nut free facility, one of many safeguards implemented to protect our students and campers.
