Miss Lori’s 4/16/2021 Red Robin Preschool Newsletter

We had another exciting week at school!  The weeks are flying by!

The upper and lower case “Ww” was introduced to the children.  We discussed the sound the letter makes and thought of many words that begin with the letter “Ww”.  Some of the children made a “Winnie the Pooh” puppet and some made a “walrus” for their Alphabet BookWe read the book Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.  This story began a discussion about using our imaginations.  We all took turns sharing what we imagine when we are laying in bed at night or in the morning.  This was a fun “exercise”!

We are immersed in our “Dinosaur Unit”.  Every day the class can’t wait to hear more stories about dinosaurs.  They especially love seeing pictures of real dinosaur bones and pictures of dinosaur exhibits in museums.  Some of our friends have shared their exciting experience viewing dinosaur skeletons at the Museum of Natural History.  This week we have studied the Velociraptor, the Triceratops and the T-Rex in depth.  The boys and girls are learning so many interesting facts about each dinosaur as they create their mural or their 3-D dinosaur!!!

During lesson time one of our friends brought in some very interesting books to share with us about the holiday of Ramadan.  Next week we will be making paper lanterns to honor this special holiday!  Our class has enjoyed seeing pictures of decorations that our friend has in their home to celebrate this holiday.

This week our class was very happy to celebrate two birthdays with two pizza parties!  We all wish Aadam and Aragon a very Happy Birthday!  Our class has become so close with each other so it is really nice that they can celebrate each other’s birthday together.

Next week will be a review week.  We will not move on to another letter.  Feel free to pick one letter from Aa-Ww with your child and find 3 pictures that begin with that letter and glue on to a piece of paper.  Please DO NOT write what letter the pictures begin with on the paper.  We will be playing a guessing game!

Wishing all of our families a wonderful, warm weekend!

Warmly,

Miss Lori and Miss Kristine

CHOOSE RED ROBIN WITH CONFIDENCE

Of course, parents should trust their own experience and instincts when choosing a school or camp. However, the critical decision about with whom to entrust your child should also be based on the program’s license, accreditations, and commitment to safety. Red Robin holds many such distinctions. They are a source of pride for us and can be a source of confidence for you.

Red Robin elects to maintain its accreditation with the American Camp Association (ACA).  This commitment requires Red Robin to adhere to many stringent standards and inspections, which help parents select camps that meet industry-accepted and government-recognized regulations.

In addition, our school is licensed by New York State.

We are also chartered by the New York State Education Department-Board of Regents.

We are permitted to operate by the Nassau County Health Department.

Red Robin is a peanut and tree nut free facility, one of many safeguards implemented to protect our students and campers.
