Miss Lori’s 3/5/2021 Red Robin Preschool Newsletter

Long Island Nursery Pre-K Teacher Lori

Dear Families,

Happy 100 Days of School!  We have had quite an exciting week celebrating this special day.  It is very hard to believe 100 days has arrived!  We have been counting special colorful rubber balls since the very first day of school, and counting to 100 on our number chart!  Our class celebrated by coming to our “Ice Cream Shop!”  They were able to order chocolate, vanilla or strawberry ice cream.  They had choices of whipped cream, chocolate syrup and rainbow sprinkles.  Some of your children said “this is the best day ever!”

During lesson time this week each of the children had a turn coming up to present their special “100 Day Masterpieces.”  We have counted to 100 many, many times this week!  Your children are becoming experts!  We also read a book called 100th Day Worries, by Margery Cuyler.  All of the children were asked -Why are they 100 days smarter???  And the following is what they said:

Nate – “I learned the letter sounds and I learned how to play?”

Luisa – “I’m smarter because you taught me a lot of things.  You taught me math,

letters and the alphabet.”

Mehnaz – “I’m smart because I’m learning so hard!”

Taylor – I am smart because I can count to 29, I know my ABC’s and I learned      about weather, migration and hibernation.”

Liam – “I learned how to make humans and handprints.”

Aragon – “I am smarter because I learned everything Miss Lori teaches me!”

Joey – “I learned how to write my name and other words.  I learned the days of the week and letters.”

Michael M. – “I can count up to 100.  I learned how to write my name and lots of other things too!”

Michael G. – “I can count to 100.  I know the days of the week now!”

Niam – “I am smarter cause I learned how to think!”

Adam – “I am 100 days smarter because I AM IN SCHOOL!”

Ethan – “I know math.  I learned to read word families.  I can write letters.

Luca – “I am smart because I love school!”

Anthony – “I am smarter because I am writing and playing.  I learned my ABC’s.”

Fateh – “I am smart because I can count to 10 and color.”

Some of you children made a “100 Day Kite.”  Some of your children made a hot air balloon.  They had to count and make 100 dots using colorful bingo markers.  Their faces are attached to their balloon and kite.  These are hanging up in our classroom and look adorable!  They love seeing their artwork displayed.

Our letter of the week was “Rr”.  We know the sound makes a roaring sound, like a lion.  We know that “March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb.”  In the beginning of the week March definitely came in like a “lion,” however we have been lucky to have had some days this week that were like a “lamb” – so we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather and play on the playground!  Our class has thought of many “Rr” words, including our favorite place- Red Robin!!!  Some of your children made a “Reindeer” and some of your children made a “Robot”.

Next week we will move on to the letter “Ss”.  We will also learn about weather, including clouds and volcanoes!  This is always a fun lesson!

Enjoy your weekend and enjoy your children!!!

Warmly,

Miss Lori and Miss Kristine

Have a “ridiculously” fun weekend!
