Miss Debbie’s Newsletter for 11-19-20
Dear Families,
We know everyone is getting busy as the holiday season approaches – and there are no exceptions in our classroom!!! We started our week concentrating on the letter “H”. We love learning new letters and we really put our “hearts” into this one. We decorated our HUMONGUS classroom “Hh” full of hearts!!! We added another “handmade” letter to our Alphabet Books this week. We hand printed a horse! We also decided that “Hh” would be a good time to talk about our homes and who we live with. We used a HUGE letter “H” as our house and then we put a triangle on as our roof! We then used blue rectangles as windows (our shape of the month) and we put the name of the boys in the house. Then we used pink rectangles to name the girls in the house. It was fun for all of us to find out who lives in everyone’s house.
“Hh” also reminds us that the holidays are near. We are learning all about Thanksgiving through books, singing and dancing. It’s such a joyous holiday because everyone we know will sit down to a holiday dinner, although a little differently this year. We hope we can bring some laughter and entertainment to your meal. We have attached our songs that we are learning. Maybe you can have a family sing along! If you have Apple Music or some other musical app you can find the music to all these songs on the following CD: “Thanksgiving Songs for Preschool and Kindergarten”, by the Kidboomers. “Who’s that Walking Down the Street?”- Is not on there but it’s a cute poem to act out –the children love it! “Hello Mr. Turkey” is on “Holiday Piggyback Songs” by A Kimbo Children’s Music. ENJOY!!!! We expect to see lots of family videos sent our way!
Thank you to all of our families for helping us put feathers on our classroom turkey-“Terry”. You were all very creative. We hope you had fun and enjoyed seeing pictures of him on Facebook.
We have been working hard getting ready for our “Thanksgiving Feast” next week.
We will not move onto our new letter next week because we will focus on Thanksgiving and our Feast on Wednesday.
Thank you in advance for so generously helping out to make our feast enjoyable, delicious and fun!
***Reminder: We will be closed next Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th. We will see everyone with “bells on,” Monday, November 30th.
Miss Sam and I wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving!
Warmly,
Miss Debbie and Miss Sam
