Miss Debbie’s Newsletter for 10-8-20
Dear Families,
We are so busy in our classroom and it’s filled with excitement!
October is truly a fun-filled month. The color of the month is “ORANGE”, the shape of the month is a “CIRCLE and the number of the month is “TWO”. The projects, stories and songs that we sing will always revolve around the cognitive work we are doing. They are learning in a fun way!
We worked on the letter “Cc” this week. The first thing we did was exercise our “fine motor skills” by using clothespins to hold a cotton ball and dip it into paint. It is hanging up in our classroom. The children take turns using the pointer at lesson to find the “Cc”. “Cc is for Cookie and Cookie Monster!” How cute is that project??? Sooooo cute! The project looked so yummy that we decided to bake our own cookies! We are quite the chefs!
We learned about “Christopher Columbus” during our week of “Cc”. We created boats in honor of Columbus with coffee filters and dot markers. Our boats have a song to go with it!
This week we also did another science experiment with “Corn”, baking soda and vinegar. It was really cool to watch!
It is really amazing to see how your children are getting involved in our “Circle Time”. They are starting to sing and put hand movements to our daily songs. They love being helpers at Calendar. Next week we will start some initial name recognition with the children by helping them find their name and put it on our attendance board. First it will be done with a picture of them next to their name and then eventually we will take the picture away.
*** Please remember that we are closed Monday, October 12th in observance of Columbus Day.
Next week we will be doing some fun Fall projects and learning all about the letter “Dd”.
Have a delightful long weekend!!!
Warmly,
Miss Debbie and Miss Sam
