Dear Pre-K Families,
The upper and lower case “Mm” was introduced this week. We discussed the sound the letter makes and thought of many words that begin with that letter. Each child made a “Minnie Mouse” or “Mickey Mouse” puppet.
Our unit on “The Five Senses” has begun. We have made “Snow Playdoh” for the sense of touch. Some of the words the children have used to describe different textures are slimy, slippery, squishy, mushy, sharp, prickly, strong, rough, hard, and soft. All of the children had so much fun combining flour, salt, oil, water, white paint and glitter to make “Snow Playdoh”. We also completed the “touch” page in our book. We discussed the sense of “taste” and baked muffins for the letter “Mm” as well as to taste. Our class used the sense of sight, taste, smell, touch, and hearing just to bake muffins! We played a game called “What’s In The Box”. Each child was blindfolded as they selected an item out of an enclosed box. They had to feel it, describe it, and guess what the object was. The boys and girls loved this game!
Our class had a discussion about our new President Elect, Donald Trump. We spoke about voting, laws, and the White House in our Weekly Reader. Your children enjoyed talking about which person their mommy and daddy voted for!
We are collecting Valentines for Veterans. These valentines will be brought to the Veteran’s Hospital in Northport. Please feel free to have your child make and decorate as many valentines as they’d like. The valentines will be placed on lunch trays so please do not make the cards too large. This activity is greatly appreciated by the entire Veteran’s. It is a terrific act of kindness!
Please remember to call Miss Desi to sign up for your late afternoon/evening Parent Teacher conference on January 25th.
Enjoy the weekend!
Warmly,
Miss Lori and Miss Kristine
