Hello Families,
Your children have really enjoyed their first days at Red Robin. We have been getting to get to know one another through songs, playtime, snack, art projects and books. We have been going outside to play on the playground using our large muscles (gross motor skills) and singing and dancing to music inside when we had all of that rainy weather.
This week we introduced our routines: Circle Time, the calendar, weather chart, the shape of the month (a circle), and the color of the month (yellow). We learned our days of the week song, our weather song, and our color song. We will be singing a lot this year, so don’t be surprised if your child serenades you in the car or at home. Next week, we hope to have everybody’s pictures on their name cards so that we can use them for attendance and for the daily jobs.
Our theme this month is apples. We have made a number of projects and will also taste apples, cook with apples, and make apple prints. It worked well, as we introduced letter “A” this week. Next week we will introduce letter “B”. We will create “B” things (such as bears, bananas, and boats) and cook with blueberries. Recipes will come home whenever we cook. We will also begin making fall projects such as acorns, leaves, and fall trees.
If you have not already sent in your child’s picture, family picture, sweater/hoodie, or old t-shirt to be used as a smock, please send it in as soon as you can.
Because our first two weeks were short weeks we will extend the book order deadline to September 28th. There is no obligation to buy anything. Next month, we will introduce our Rainbow Catcher. It is our version of Show and Tell. More specific information will come home about it next week.
Looking forward to a great week next week and a great year!
