Dear Families:
What a great week we had! We celebrated Halloween by parading around the grounds of Red Robin, trick or treating with Mr. Michael and Miss Sheryl, and enjoying yummy treats at our party. We continued to learn about fire fighters. Ask your children to sing the fire fighter song; how to stay low under the smoke; and how to stop, drop, and roll. We are waiting for the fire department to come and visit us soon. Their work is so important and, as such, it’s not always easy to get a date that works for them and us. Our letter of the week will be “G”. Among the stories that we will be reading are Little Gorilla by Ruth Bornstein, and The Three Billy Goats Gruff.
With the month of November upon us, we have many things to celebrate. This week, we will introduce the children to the concept of voting and honoring our veterans. We will learn the importance of voting and that we honor those who have served in the military and have been fortunate enough to have returned home.
It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is almost here! We will be learning about Pilgrims and Native Americans throughout the month. Turkeys, cornucopias, and all things related to the holiday will be explored through songs, art projects, and books. We will be celebrating Thanksgiving in our classroom with a Thanksgiving Tasting Feast. Over the next two weeks we will share with you a list of suggested foods to send in for your children to taste and share.
One of the things that Thanksgiving, and the upcoming December holidays, reminds us of is sharing the bounties of what we have. During the month of November, we ask that Red Robin families consider donating canned and boxed goods so that those less fortunate than us can fill their pantries. We will be sending home more specific information shortly.
A reminder that Tuesday, November 6th we will be meeting for conferences. Your children have no school that day. On Monday, November 12th school will be closed for Veteran’s Day.
Looking forward to another great week.
Miss Louise, & Miss Enedina
